Bridging Gaps in Care: Naturopathic Doctors' Role in Optimizing Queer & Transgender Health
Earlier this week on September 18th, 2025, I had a professionally produced article published in the Canadian Journal (CANDJ), the official journal of the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (NDs).
This article, available for download below, offers a commentary and reflection on the deep and profound need for holistic health and medicine professionals to gain necessary training in addressing queer and transgender health disparities.
Throughout my tenure in Naturopathic Medical School, this is an area that I have found immense passion in as someone who themselves is queer & transgender.
As you'll see outlined in the article, this passion in part has been fueled by my own experience of medical discrimination at the beginning of medical school back in 2020. In the near future, I plan on writing a more detailed account of this experience; suffice to say, I don't think very highly of these medical boards that supposedly "protect the public," but that's a story for another day.
